‘UNDERWORLD’ TV SERIES CONFIRMED, LEN WISEMAN INVOLVED

As this also concerns Len Wiseman I should have probably added this onto the last news post – but never mind. Our Ross Hughes posted the news that a TV series of Underworld was being planned back in January 2016, but the project has been delayed since then. Perhaps they were waiting to see how well the latest movie in the franchise Underworld: Blood Wars did? In fact it didn’t do too well at the box office, showing perhaps that moviegoers were tiring of this series which despite being harshly treated by critics did previously make a lot of money – though in my opinion it was easily the weakest of the films.

In any case, various websites are now reporting that director of the first two films and series overseer Len Wiseman and his production company Sketch Films are finally moving forward with the long-gestating Underworld TV series, which is targeting the premium cable/digital space. Says Wiseman:

“The series will be a pretty big departure from the films. I don’t want to say it’s more adult, but it’s definitely less comic book in its tone and character.”

There’s plenty of potential for further world building here. The big question is though, will Kate Beckinsale be involved? I would imagine that she’s had enough of that outfit by now, but for many she’s the main reason to watch….

I'm a huge film fan and will watch pretty much any type of film, from Martial Arts to Westerns, from Romances [though I don't really like Romcoms!]] to Historical Epics. Though I most certainly 'have a life', I tend to go to the cinema twice a week! However, ever since I was a kid, sneaking downstairs when my parents had gone to bed to watch old Universal and Hammer horror movies, I've always been especially fascinated by horror, and though I enjoy all types of horror films, those Golden Oldies with people like Boris Karloff and Christopher Lee probably remain my favourites. That's not to say I don't enjoy a bit of blood and gore every now and again though, and am also a huge fan of Italian horror, I just love the style.
