Extremely talented yet still very underrated in my opinion, Rutger is a bit of a cult-hero of mine. His very presence seems to 'elevate' any film he appears in.
He's played many different memorable characters throughout his career, from the heroic to the twisted & villainous and even the almost tragic (that would be Roy Batty) but the man is a very down-to-earth and grounded individual. Listening to the commentary track he recorded for HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN with director Jason Eisener, he comes across as a really humorous and likeable guy too; very non-Hollywood and still has many 'European' sensibilities.
It's really cool the way he never takes himself too seriously and is always up for even the most craziest roles/projects. If you've not seen it, check out the 1987 TV movie ESCAPE FROM SOBIBOR for which he won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor.
