What is it with ghosts whispering, I can barely understand a word! Speak up, thats what I say! And we should be shouting from the rooftops about this brand new, full length UK trailer for Troy Nixey’s remake of the 1973 made for TV movie, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark. Starring Guy Pearce, Katie Holmes and Bailee Madison, the film looks nice and creepy and, even though the focus seems to be mainly on the young girl, rather scary in places. Well, what do you expect from the brilliant mind of Guillermo Del Toro, who is on writer and producer duties.
The film is gathering strong word of mouth, and is set for release here in the UK for August 12th. Here is the synopsis:
“The pic follows Sally (Bailee Madison), a young girl who moves to Rhode Island to live with her father (Guy Pearce) and his new girlfriend (Katie Holmes) in the 19th-century mansion they are restoring. Having stumbled upon the mansion’s hidden basement, Sally starts hearing voices calling out from the bolted ash pit, imploring her to open it. Sally obliges and unwittingly unleashes something so terrible, so unthinkable, that everyone’s life – hers most of all – is placed in immediate and grave danger.“
