Pixar are set to return next Summer with their latest offering, and some new and fresh ideas too! Firstly, the heroine here is female, which is a first for Pixar, and secondly the overall look and feel of the film is unlike anything Pixar have attempted before. Here we have an adventure, much look the good old days of Disney, and the story looks to be taking on a slightly darker affair than usual with heightened level of threat and menace on offer in the teaser trailer. The story is also set in Scotland which should hopefully grant some tremendous scenery, and even boasts the voice of one Billy Connolly in the list of actor’s providing their gifts. Other names attached to voice characters include Emma Thompson, Kevin McKidd, Kelly Macdonald, Robbie Coltrane,Julie Walters and Craig Ferguson. The animated film is directed by Mark Andrews and the plot details follow:

Brave is set in the mystical Scottish Highlands, where Merida is the princess of a kingdom ruled by King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). An unruly daughter and an accomplished archer, Merida one day defies a sacred custom of the land and inadvertently brings turmoil to the kingdom. In an attempt to set things right, Merida seeks out an eccentric old Wise Woman (Julie Walters) and is granted an ill-fated wish. Also figuring into Merida’s quest — and serving as comic relief — are the kingdom’s three lords: the enormous Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), the surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson), and the disagreeable Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane).

Brave is expected to grace UK cinemas August 17th 2012.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
