Sacha Baron Cohen returns in his next big budget spectacle of a movie! After pissing off half the world with both Borat and Bruno, and causing the other half to literally piss themselves with laughter, Cohen has a new and controversial comedy on the horizon.
Called The Dictator, Cohen will play two characters, one of them will be Sadam Hussein type of ruler who aint very nice and gets secretly replaced. Cohen’s other character is goat herder who replaces the ruler. The ruler moves to New York to begin a new life, and meets a health food store manager (Anna Faris) who broadens his horizon’s on life. Described as “the heroic story of a dictator who risked his life to ensure that democracy would never come to the country he so lovingly oppressed” the film is supposedly based on Husseins Zabibah and the King. The book is described by Empire as “the story of how a benevolent, powerful king falls for a beautiful girl who has been brutally treated by her abusive husband. The not-so-subtext? Saddam saw himself as the ruler, with Iraq as the girl and the US as the evil hubbie”
Sounds perfect dangerous territory for Cohen to get his teeth into. The film is directed by Larry Charles (Bruno, Borat) and also stars Ben Kingsley. Expect to see it in UK cinemas May 11th 2012.
