This superb looking Clooney made political thriller should hopefully set cinemas alight in the darkening Autumn months when it hits the UK on October 28th. I say Clooney made because the bust chap not only stars in the film, but he directed, co-produced and wrote the film too! It should really be called the Ides of Clooney! It is loosely based on the story of a Democratic political campaign in 2004 by Howard Dean and how his work was sabotaged by his loyalty-challenged campaign manager Steve Grossman.
The cast for the film is quite brilliant to, in fact, each time a new character was introduced in the trailer I found myself getting more and more excited by the actors turning up. Not only do we have George Clooney, but Ryan Gosling fresh from his turn in Drive, the always wonderful Philip Seymour Hoffman, Paul Giamatti, Marisa Tomei, Evan Rachel Wood, Jeffrey Wright and Max Minghella. This could well be the political thriller to beat this year. The production look crisp as it could possibly be, the direction precise and the plot thick and intriguing. Yeh, this is a must see! Here are those all important plot details:
An idealistic staffer for a newbie presidential candidate gets a crash course on dirty politics during his stint on the campaign trail. Based on the play by Beau Willimon.
