It seems that Guillermo del Toro is a bit of a workaholic, which for us is a very good thing. Already working on a massive sci-fi film called Pacific Rim, a story we have been covering for some time now, Del Toro is still talking about adapting HP Lovecrafts At the Mountains of Madness, a huge project should it ever happen (and believe me we hope it does). He was written screenplays for both The Hobbit films currently shooting, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark due out next month and also the forthcoming Pinocchio movie. On top of that he has been producing a number of films including Puss in Boots, Rise of the Guardians and Pinocchio, a busy man indeed.
His latest project looks likely to be a new adaptation of the Beauty and the Beast tale, and it would seem likely that Del Toro will produce. The news came from Denise Di Novy (Crazy Stupid Love) who announced his plans to adapt the story. Word is that Emma Watson is the actress of choice to play ‘Beauty’ I presume, and a fine choice she would make. That is all we have on the story right now, nothing has actually been confirmed as yet but we will keep you posted.
