Exorcism of Emily Rose director Scott Derrickson returns with new found footage chiller

Scott Derrickson has been responsible for a couple of great films and a couple of not so great films. The Exorcism of Emily Rose is one of the best horror films in years, and certainly up there with the best of the ‘exorcism’ themed horrors, but then The Day the Earth Stood Still was a bit of a stinker, but then he also made one of the best Hellraiser sequels with Hellraiser: Inferno. Now the writer/director is back with a project which, up until now, had been untitled.

According to ‘Shock Til You Drop’ Derrickson’s new found footage chiller has now been named as ‘Sinister’, although it is likely this may well change as the film begins to take shape. Starring Ethan Hawke the film is currently in pre-production with Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, Lords of Salem) producing with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones’ (Insidious, The Bay, Lords of Salem) Automatik Entertainment. The film is set to begin filming in September and with this line up of names attached I can only imagine this will turn out very impressive indeed. Here is a brief synopsis:

Ethan Hawke plays a journalist who travels with his family around the country to investigate gruesome murders he turns into books. After he moves his family into a house where another family was murdered, the journo discovers found footage that unveils horrifying clues beyond what caused the original tragedy.”

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
