Kill List director Ben Wheatley has begun shooting his next film, ‘Sightseers’ (UPDATE: Official synopsis added)

The director of the critically acclaimed Kill List and Down Terrace is a busy man right now. Ben Wheatley is not only making a short film for upcoming horror anthology ‘The ABC’s of Death’, but he is now shooting his next film.

Starring Steve Oram and Alice Lowe, the film has begun shooting in Derbyshire, Yorkshire and The Lake District and will continue for the next four weeks. The plot is being heavily guarded right now, IMDB simply states “Two crazy people go on vacation together” Dread Central dug up this small piece of info on the plot too “The story is about a couple on a countryside caravan trip that goes wrong.

So it would appear the film is about a couple on a sightseeing trip, hence the title, but apart from that all we can figure out is that things go wrong. Studio Canal will handle the distribution here in the UK.

There have been some comments made about the film, Film Four Senior Commissioning Executive Katherine Butler said the film is “hilariously twisted”. BFI Film Fund Senior Production Executive Lizzie Francke said “‘Sightseers’ takes us on a bizarre journey through some of Britain’s most offbeat tourist destinations.

Sounds good, we will keep you posted on this one.

(UPDATE)

The official synopsis has now been released:

Chris (Steve Oram) wants to show Tina (Alice Lowe) his world and he wants to do it his way – on a journey through the British Isles in his beloved Abbey Oxford Caravan. Tina’s led a sheltered life and there are things that Chris needs her to see – the Crich Tramway Museum, the Ribblehead Viaduct, the Keswick Pencil Museum and the rolling countryside that separates these wonders in his life. But it doesn’t take long for the dream to fade. Litterbugs, noisy teenagers and pre-booked caravan sites, not to mention Tina’s meddling mother, soon conspire to shatter Chris’s dreams and send him, and anyone who rubs him up the wrong way, over a very jagged edge…” Basically, everyone’s an asshole, and Chris loses it. Sweet.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
