Matt Damon and Ben Affleck back together for biopic of Mobster Whitey Bulger

This is great news knowing that Matt Damon and Ben Affleck will be working together again, and even better news once you hear what the story is about! Since the pair debuted with their astonishing film Good Will Hunting, their careers have been up and down, however over the past few years both of their careers have simply continued to get better and better. Damon is one of the biggest and most sought after actors in the world today, after successfully making Jason Bourne his own, and Affleck, after a very up and down and at times rather embarrassing career, has finally come good. He surprised everyone with his directing skills with the superb Gone Baby, Gone and then proved it was not a one off with the incredible film The Town.

The pair will now be working together as both producers and stars in Warner Brothers biopic and Whitey Bulger, a criminal who ended up at Number Two on the FBI’s most wanted list, second only to Osama Bin Laden. Damon and Affleck will produce under the Pearl Street Films banner, and Damon will play Bulger and both Affleck and his brother Casey, who has phenomenal acting talent, will co star. The film is being written by Boardwalk Empire writer Terrence Winter. Ben Affleck will be directing the film, which again is great news.

Whitey Bulger was only recently arrested at the age of 81, and I mean very recently, June 22nd this year! Back in his younger years he was well known for helping out his community with good deeds, although he was also murdering 19 people as well as taking part in racketeering and illegal gambling. He became an informant for the FBI in the 70’s and gave a lot of information to them on the Mafia. Thanks to this he was able to run his business free of hassle, and even had some public officials protecting him.He was head of Boston’s Winter Hill Gang.

He fled Boston in December 1994 and ended up on the FBI’s list after receiving a tip off he was about to be indicted under the RICO act. It wasn’t until June this year he was finally arrested, so this should make one brilliant picture when it get released.

Expect more on this film as it develops.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
