‘The Avengers’ have arrived as the first trailer makes its debut! See it here right now

The answer to the question “just will the Avengers live up to all the hype” has sort of been answered today as the debut trailer has arrived. The other worrying question which has been lingering over the film is “can director Joss Whedon handle such a big film” Considering the director has mostly worked on TV shows like Glee, The American Office, Buffy, Dollhouse and Firefly, with his only film being Serenity, there was a concern if he could deliver on the goods. Let’s be honest, The Avengers is set to be one of the biggest superhero films of 2012, with only The Dark Knight Rises above it. With such a collection of superhero’s in one film, The Avengers was always going to be a tough one to make, and an even tougher job is ahead to please fans.

Thankfully, on the merits of this first trailer, it looks like Whedon has done well. He’s kept the charm and charisma of other Marvel films and the big spectacle effects looks top notch. Watching the cast together playing off each other’s ego’s is also a joy to watch, and even more impressive is the amount of screen time given to Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow. I am sure you will agree that the more time she is on screen in tight leather, the better the film will be!

Also starring in the film are Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Samuel L Jackson, Jeremy Renner, Gwyneth Paltrow and Stellan Skarsgard, who are all reprising their previous roles in other Marvel superhero films. Mark Ruffalo, however, will be making his Marvel debut as Bruce Banner/ The Hulk, and I am very keen to see how he handles to role.

You can expect to see the film in UK cinemas 4th May 2012. The trailer is below, enjoy!

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
