Rob Zombie continues to announce cast members for his highly anticipated horror flick The Lords of Salem. Names have been appearing left, right and centre for the past few weeks, but today quite possibly the biggest and most recognisable name was announced. Please welcome Bruce Dern to the film, and this is a pretty big name considering he has appeared in no less than 138 films!
Dern will soon be appearing in The Toolbox Murders 2, but you will also know him from films like Monster, Last Man Standing, Wild Bill, Silent Running and The Burbs. Dern is also due to grace our screens in Francis Ford Coppola’s Twixt. Zombie is clearly very excited having Dern onboard, just check out his comments on his Facebook page:
Here’s some really exciting casting news! I am fucking thrilled to announce that Academy Award nominated actor BRUCE DERN has joined the ever growing cast of THE LORDS OF SALEM. Bruce is taking on the role of FRANCIS MATTHIAS author of the book “SATAN’S LAST STAND – The Truth About The Salem Witch Trials.” Francis may know a little too much about witches for his own good.
Bruce has appeared in so many classic films it is almost impossible to list them but here are a few: The Wild Angels, The Trip, Psych-Out, Hang ‘Em High, They Shoot Horses Don’t They, The Cowboys, Silent Running, The King Of Marvin Gardens, The Great Gatsby, Family Plot, Black Sunday, Coming Home and the list goes on and on and on.
Most recently Bruce completed work on Francis Ford Coppola’s latest film entitled TWIXT.
Haunted House Pictures’ Oren Peli, Jason Blum and Steven Schneider, who all worked on both Paranormal Activity and Insidious, will be producing alongside Zombie regulars Andy Gould and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones. For tons more info on what has been happening with the film, click here.
Heidi, a blonde rock chick, DJs at a local radio station and, together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster), forms part of the “Big H Radio Team”.
A mysterious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, “a gift from the Lords”. She assumes it’s a rock band on a mission to spread their word. As Heidi and Whitey play the Lords’ record, it starts to play backwards, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma.
Later Whitey plays the Lords’ record, dubbing them the Lords of Salem, and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with listeners.
The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H Team with free tickets, posters and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon Heidi and her cohorts find that the gig is far from the rock spectacle they’re expecting: The original Lords of Salem are returning, and they’re out for BLOOD.
