Kristen Stewart offered role in live action ‘Akira’ adaptation

A number of names are getting offers to star in Jaume Colet-Serra’s live action adaptation of Akira, and the latest name offered a role is Twilight’s Queen of Misery, Kristen Stewart. She has been offered the role of Kei, a young Medium who is the love interest of Kaneda. The role of Kaneda has already been offered to Garrett Hedlund (Tron Legacy)

We brought you news a little while back that both Gary Oldman and Helena Bonham Carter had also been offered roles, however no one has yet signed a contract. Warner Brothers are backing the film which has so far had a traumatic ride with the film being cancelled, actors and directors leaving the project, and budget issues.

Hopefully the next piece of news we bring you on this project will be some confirmed names and that the film is finally moving ahead, fingers crossed anyway!

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
