Lionsgate are wasting no time, and clearly have a lot of trust in their sure-fire hit The Hunger Games, as they are already looking at an Oscar winner to adapt the next film. The first film is not due in UK cinemas until 23rd March 2012, but there is an almighty buzz surrounding the film and there is no question Lionsgate have a major hit on their hands.

Planning ahead, the sequel and second book in the trilogy Catching Fire is already on the cards, and this was announced sometime ago. However news today is that Lionsgate are looking at Oscar winner Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours) to adapt the next script.

Director Gary Ross, who has directed the first film, will be returning to direct the sequel.

More on this as it develops.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
