24 The Movie update: “We’re running out of time for a script!”

In the words of my hero, Jack Bauer, Imagine Entertainment and 20th Century Fox are “running out of time!” That is what they have told Mark Bomback (The Wolverine, Shadow Divers) who has been commissioned to write the script for the upcoming 24 Movie. Jack Bauer, sorry, Kiefer Sutherland is available for filming this coming April and Bomback has been told they need a script by the end of the year!

With no script, it is still unclear as to how the film will play out, but the early rumours were that the film version was to be based in London. However, no one knows where it will be set, all we know for definite is that shooting is set to commence in April next year. There is also no word on who will return, apart from Bauer naturally, but it would be nice to see Chloe O’Brian and Tony Almeida back.

With 20th Century Fox and Imagine working around Sutherland’s available dates at least it gives them something to aim for to actually get their arses in gear to make this happen. It has been far too long since we saw Jack, and I cannot wait to see him up on the big screen screaming “Dammit!!” as it echoes around the cinema screen!

It was said that Tony Scott was signed up to direct, although that is not happening anymore, and so far there is no name confirmed to direct. Producer Brian Glazer is still on board, and the April date of shooting would fit in nicely with his Oscar plans. Let’s just get this darned thing rolling, never mind the longest day of Jack’s life; this is turning into the longest wait of mine!

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
