Its going to be very long time after the Doctor Who Christmas Special when we see that bow tie again, well not until Autumn 2012 and while fans of the popular show will be crying all through next year until its return, the man in charge of the whole thing Steven Moffat has been talking about Season 7.
Its not much to go on here but damn any Who news is exciting for the those out there and Moffat in an interview with the Doctor Who Magazine has hinted that the next series may differ from the last.
“At this stage, everything is a single episode, and the only reason anything will become a two-parter is if we think it needs to be, so what’s the point in them? “This year, we used a lot of cliff-hangers and mysteries to pull people through, but then I remember the moment, at the end of A Good Man Goes to War, when we put up the title Let’s Kill Hitler. That was so exciting. I’m thinking, ‘Can we do that every week?’ You can sod off with poetic understatement.”
For series seven, therefore, “I want slutty titles and movie poster plots. I want big pictures and straplines”, hinting that the first episode for it that he’s writing will “feel a bit like Die Hard”.
The last season was bogged down with the River Song saga which drew some complaints in some quarters so is this Moffat bowing down to pressure?
I doubt it very much! Its just Moffat once again pushing the show in a different direction and for that, season 7 can not come quick enough!
My Doctor Who review of the Christmas Special will be up once its shown on 7.00pm BBC 1 on Christmas Day!
