Ladies and gentlemen, we give you the first incredible trailer for Peter Jackson’s ‘The Hobbit’

Yes, this is certainly becoming one of the best weeks of the year for trailers! Yesterday we had The Dark Knight Rises, Prometheus is due on Thursday and this morning the debut trailer went live for Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected  Journey! A great week indeed. Today, not only do we have the debut Hobbit trailer, but a brand new image was revealed yesterday, so that is included here as well.

I must admit, with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey being a year away, I thought the first trailer would be a short teaser trailer showing nothing much at all. Man was I wrong, this is a superb trailer that shows just enough to wet the appetite, but doesn’t show too much as to spoil things early on. The singing gives the trailer a real menacing tone, and the way the trailer slowly unfolds and builds creates a real atmosphere of adventure and danger. Love the Gollum scene at the end as well. A great first trailer, Jackson has done himself proud, and I wouldn’t really have expected anything less than brilliance from the great man. This film will be massive!

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the first part of a two film epic, will arrive in UK cinemas 14th December 2012, with the second film The Hobbit: There & Back Again arriving in December 2013. A new image was also revealed the other day of Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins, and with the image came the following caption:

Pictures release. Photo by James Fisher.

“The Hobbit” follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, which was long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakensheild. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs and Giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers. Although their goal lies to the East and the wastelands of the Lonely Mountain first they must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature that will change his life forever … Gollum. Here, alone with Gollum, on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum’s “precious” ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities … A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
