‘The Evil Dead’ remake is officially a go!!!

It my seem strange reading that headline because there has been so much talk of the Evil Dead remake, but it is now official, the remake WILL happen and there is no turning back! Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions and FilmDistrict are partnering with Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures on a worldwide deal for Sony Pictures to distribute.

Fede Alvarez will be directing, and has also co-written the script with Rodo Sayagues, and Juno’s Diablo Cody did all the revisions to finish off the script. Sam Raimi will be producing along with Bruce Campbell and Robert G. Tapert. No names have been cast as yet, and it is still unclear whether Campbell will be playing a cameo role. The film is scheduled to begin production next year.

“Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.”

The lead character will be “taking his younger sister to the family’s cabin to help her kick her drug addiction. Without her drugs she becomes insane and difficult to control, which makes it impossible to see that she’s actually possessed.”

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
