Jurassic Park 4 is happening, although Steven Spielberg will NOT direct

Good and bad news here I’m afraid, so let’s start with the good first. We all know Jurassic Park 4 is happening, and as both Spielberg and his producers have said, it will only happen if they get a script worth directing. The makers do not want to just cash in on another sequel if it won’t actually be any good. I admire that, and I truly believe that to do another Jurassic Park, then it should be done for the right reasons, and a good story is what is needed or else you just end up going over old ground and the franchise becomes stagnant. There are people working on a script, and I have no doubt that at some point this year Jurassic Park 4 will be announced and we can all sit back happy, waiting for the darned thing to get made.

Now, here’s the bad news, and sadly it is very bad news. Steven Spielberg will NOT be directing (breathe; pick yourself up from the floor and focus). Bad news as this is, Spielberg will still be involved, as a producer so it’s not all bad. In a recent interview with Collider, Spielberg said:

“I can tell you that I’m not directing it. I’m producing it though.

I think the general feeling is that as long as Spielberg is involved in one way or another, then there is hope. Also, being his baby, I doubt he will want just anyone to direct, so a good director will be taking charge of the project once a script has been chosen. Another website has mentioned how great it would be if Peter Jackson directed and I have to agree. Imagine that, Peter Jackson directing Jurassic Park 4, now that would be something truly special. However, it is doubtful since he is tied up with The Hobbit right now and could probably do with a well earned break once that epic is released.

Either way, at least Spielberg will be involved, we just need to hope and pray that a decent script comes along soon, and a top class director is chosen. See some earlier stories here

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
