You know you wait for years for a modern take on Sherlock Holmes and when we get one, another one follows soon after.

Its been announced that the CBS has picked up a new detective drama pilot which will be called Elementary and they have described it as a modern-day take on Sherlock Holmes.

Hmmm sounds a tad familiar.

The project has been devised and written by Medium scribe Rob Doherty, who will also executive produce alongside Justified ‘s Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly.

Back in September the producer Sue Vertue of the BBC Sherlock  which offers the same premise to critical acclaim remarked about this project on her Twitter account,  “Mmm interesting CBS, I’m surprised no one has thought of making a modern day version of Sherlock before, oh hang on, we have”….

If the pilot is picked up for a full blown series, then except Elementary to form part of the CBS 2012 fall schedule.
