LATEST TV NEWS: DRIVE Director turned down by the great DOCTOR……..

Drive may have won our first ever HCF Film of the year award and also won universal critical acclaim, but director Nicolas Winding Refn has claimed that he was turned down for an episode of Doctor Who.

Its a stunning statement in which he told ShortList  that he is a massive fan of the BBC drama.

“I would have loved to direct Doctor Who but they didn’t want me,” he said. “They turned me down last year.”

What he could have brought to the table is anyones guess but it does seem like one of those lost opportunites for fans after the style and vision he managed to create with his Drive masterpiece.

Refn who at the moment is developing a concept for a remake of Logan’s Run – also admitted that he is a fan of the BBC’s classic space opera Blake’s 7, which ran from 1978 to 1981.

“Maybe if they revive Blake’s 7 I could do that,” he suggested. “I love it. It’s great. That could be fun to update.”.
