Disney’s ‘The Night Stalker’ finds a director

Shaun of the Dead and Scott Pilgrim VS The World Director Edgar Wright has signed on to direct Disney’s adaptation of the Night Stalker. The film is based on the 70’s TV movie of the same name, and it was announced some time ago that Johnny Depp would be involved. While he is currently working on another adaptation of a 60’s-70’s show called Dark Shadows, it would appear that Depp will also be taking the lead role on The Night Stalker.

The film will be produced by Depp and his Infinitum Nihil partner Christi Dembrowski, with David Kennedy executive producing. It is not confirmed that Depp will take the lead role, but Disney are certainly looking at him to play the part of tabloid reporter Carl Kolchak. The reporter hunted the killer of beautiful girls on the Las Vegas strip, who had their blood drained by the madman. Kolchak ‘s investigations always lead him to the doorways of vampires, werewolves, aliens and zombies.

How Disney will handle this is anybody’s guess, but the original movie was very scary for its time.

More as it develops.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
