Love them or hate them, Specs and Tucker will return in ‘Insidious 2’

No news on plot details have yet been revealed for Insidious 2, although we do know that the majority of the production crew are returning. James Wan is indeed back to direct and Leigh Whannell will also be returning, in more ways than just producing and writing. Dread Central got the first word on two characters confirmed to be returning as we head into The Further for a second time. The news is going to divide fans, some will embrace the fact Specs and Tucker are back, whilst others are going to be furious.

See, for Me, Specs and Tucker brought some much needed comedy to proceedings and helped lighten the mood a bit. Now, usually I am all for intense, horrific horrors that scare the pants off you, and Insidious did just that, but my God I was worn out watching the film, it was pant wettingly scary and actually needed some light relief. Specs and Tucker brought that, and for me personally, them returning is a good thing, so long as they only have minor roles as before. My only worry is they end up with bigger parts, and I do not want to see Insidious 2 go too much down the comedy road, let’s keep it dark, scary and intense. Hopefully the duo will be used much like they were before.

Dread Central recently interview Leigh Whannell, and it was there that the bombshell was dropped that his character Specs would be returning, along with Tucker (played by Angus Sampson). Here is what was said:

“I can say that yes, my character will be seen in Insidious 2,” said Whannell. “It may probably bum a lot of people out, though, to hear this news. It’s part of the reason I don’t even read the internet message boards anymore; there was this hatred that spewed out from fans saying ‘I hated those guys! They sucked! They ruined the movie!’ so there will probably be a lot of people out there who will be disappointed to hear that the Specs and Tucker characters will be coming back. (laughs)”

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.

  1. Just watched Insidious 3 and I like the Ambiguously Gay Duo even more! Tucker even has the Gay Bear look going on! Coming from a gay guy who’s into bears, I think he looked hot!
