Robert Rodriguez’s Machete sequel getting closer to slice its way into production!

Machete may not have been a perfect film, however you cannot deny that it was a blistering rampage of shocking violence and a hell of a lot of fun. Danny Trejo IS Machete, and fans have been crying out for a sequel ever since the film came out. We all knew it was only a matter of time, and today’s news is that we may get the film sooner than expected.

Danny Trejo is in talks to reprise his role of Machete, and to be perfectly honest I don’t see why he wouldn’t, and director Robert Rodriguez is keen to get cracking. Teaming with producer Alexander Rodnyansky, ‘Machete Kills’ is set to begin production as early as the beginning of April this year! Not only that, word is that we will not only get a sequel, but also a third film making up a Machete trilogy! Most of the cast from the first film are expected to return for the sequel.

The fan response to the Machete character has been fanatical since his first appearance,” Rodriguez said. “Machete is truly a superhero, and Machete Kills will be bigger and more ambitious than the first time. Alexander has a tremendous background in moviemaking and huge enthusiasm for continuing the Machete legend onscreen,” Rodriguez continued. “I’m really looking forward to working with Alexander and Sergei Bespalov.

Kyle Ward has written a script which is being developed by Rodriguez and Marcel Rodriguez. Rodnyansky will both produce and finance the film, and Aldamasia Enterainment’s Sergei Bespalov will handle worldwide sales at the Berlin European Film Market. The synopsis for the new film is as follows:

“The new film finds Machete recruited by the U.S. Government for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man. Machete must battle his way through Mexico to take down a madman cartel leader and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space. Machete takes on an army in an effort to dismantle a plan for global anarchy”

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
