The Sound of My Voice received some very positive reviews when it played at Sundance 2011, and even though it was purchased there by Fox Searchlight, it has taken over a year to prep the film for its release. The reason for this is that Fox Searchlight purchased another cult based drama at Sundance 2011, the highly praised Martha Marcy May Marlene, and so Fox put all their efforts into that film first.
Now the time has come to start showing off their next cult based drama, director Zal Batmanglij’s The Sound of My Voice. The film stars Christopher Denham, Nicole Vicius and Brit Marling, and what is different here is that the cult is lead by a woman claiming to be from the future.
The plot follows a journalist and his girlfriend who investigate the cult, but end up being taken in by all that is happening.
The film is due to open in selected cinemas in the US on 27th April. Check out the trailer below.
