Session 9 director Brad Anderson jumped onboard to direct The Hive after Joel Schumacher jumped ship back in January. Not much news has been heard about the film until recently when two new names were added to the cast list.
Hale Berry was the first to be announced last week, and she has signed on to appear in the film as an emergency operator in a 911 call centre. In the film, Berry must face her own fears in order to save a teenage girl from a vicious serial killer.
In the latest casting news Abigail Breslin, Little Miss Sunshine herself and now all grown up, has signed on the play the part of the teenage victim. “Abigail is always wonderful playing vulnerable characters so I feel really lucky to have her for this role,” said Anderson.
Anderson is directing from a script written by Richard D’Ovidio, who himself adapted from the original story by Nicole D’Ovidio and Jon Bokencamp. Troika Pictures’ Robert Stein and Michael Helfant will produce, with Bradley Gallo co-producing. Also producing will be Jeff Graup, with Philip M. Cohen and William C. Gallo executive producing.
More as it develops.
