David Cronenberg films have been a bit, dare I say it, normal of late. That’s not to say his more recent output has not been very good, far from it in fact! His films continue to fascinate and intrigue, and even though his more recent films constantly remind us that he is without doubt one of the finest director’s in the business, many fans (including myself) long for the days of his ‘body horror’ films like Shivers, The Fly,Videodrome, Scanners and Rabid. Well, with his new film, Cosmopolis has just revealed its first teaser, and it looks very much like the Cronenberg of old.
Hell, even casting Robert Pattinson seems to have worked. In the trailer (and I never thought I’d say this) he looks perfect for the part, a very dark and mysterious character. The 30 second treat packs in tons of really great stuff, so get watching after some information on the film.
Directed and written for the screen by Cronenberg, the film is based on a novel written by Don DeLillo. The film features an impressive cast which includes Robert Pattinson, Samantha Morton, Paul Giamatti, Jay Baruchel, Kevin Durand, Juliette Binoche, Sarah Gadon, Anna Hardwick, Emily Hampshire and Mathieu Amalric.
Eric Packer risks his entire fortune to bet against the yen on a tumultuous day, a move that puts him in an assassin’s crosshairs as he moves from place to place in a limo in a study of capitalism that takes place in a slightly futuristic metropolis.
