Director Paul Thomas Anderson is regarded as a bit of a genius, and many hold him in the same light as directors like Stanley Kubrick based on his short but phenomenal career. Personally, I think the director is a master of his craft, and while films like Magnolia, Punch Drunk Love and Boogie Nights are very very impressive, it is hi instant classic There Will Be Blood that sets his standards now. There Will Be Blood is a film so good it is almost painful to watch, there is a level of brilliance in this film which has barely been matched by another director since. There Will Be Blood is, simply put, one of the finest films of this decade, and I am very excited to see what the director can deliver next.
Thankfully the trailer for his new film, The Master, does not disappoint, and leaves you wanting more, much more. Joaquin Phoenix mesmerises in the trailer as he is interrogated over an “episode”, and while not a lot is given away, it is clear there is some dark stuff going on. The Master is written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, and stars Joaquin Phoenix, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams, Rami Malek, Laura Dern and Jesse Plemons.
