Its a sad day for action fans with the news that the beloved Jackie Chan is quitting the genre.
After years of being one of the best action screen hero, Chann is calling it quits after Chinese Zodiac
“They say, ‘No, you’re still young, you can still do it’, but I have to stop one day,” he told The AP….which puts to end the rumours that a Rush Hour IV was in the pipeline.
Chinese Zodiac will be the end of an era and its a fitting tribute because Chan has spent the last seven years bringing the film to the screen. The movie is in fact written, produced and directed by himself, a film he describes “Important” in which he reprises his 1991 Armour of God II: Operation Condor role.
“For the last ten years I’ve been choosing the director to direct me. This one I direct myself, I hope this movie, 20 years later, people still remember it. For me, for the audience, for my future, for my history – it’s very important.
“When I look at Hollywood, at Robert De Niro, he can do anything – comedy, drama,” Chan shared. “Clint Eastwood – 60-70 years old, he can still move.
“I said yes, that’s my goal. Because action star’s life is so short. Actor’s life is very long. I want to show audiences I can act.”
Bye Bye Chan….the action scene will be a poor place without you!
