I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Dibbuk Box was a much better name for Ole Bornedal’s (Deliver Us From Evil) new horror, now called The Possession. The marketing guys have now made another mistake as a brand new one sheet has been revealed. Now, the fact I could get past the name change was helped in some way by the superb poster that you can see in banner form above, but sadly a new one sheet has just been revealed, and it is a bit dull really. You can see it at the bottom of this post.
The Possession is directed by Ole Bornedal, and has been written by Kevin Mannis, Stephen Susco, Juliet Snowden and Stiles White. Sam Raimi is one of the films producers. The film stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kyra Sedgwick, Grant Show, Madison Davenport and Natasha Calis.
The Possession is due for release on 31 August in UK cinemas.
Based on true events, ‘The Possession’ is the terrifying story of how one family must unite in order to survive the wrath of an unspeakable evil. Clyde (Morgan) and Stephanie Brenek (Sedgwick) see little cause for alarm when their youngest daughter Em becomes oddly obsessed with an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. But as Em’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic, the couple fears the presence of a malevolent force in their midst, only to discover that the box was built to contain a dibbuk, a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host.
