Red band trailer released for Ben Stiller, Jonah Hill, Vince Vaughn and Richard Ayoade swearingly offensive comedy ‘Neighborhood Watch’

Director Akiva Schaffer’s new comedy, Neighborhood Watch, is due to arrive in UK cinemas on29th August, and things have been pretty quiet up until now. With a cast to die for, Fox have just released a rather offensive, very sweary red band trailer, and I will admit to having one or two chuckles watching this.

In the US the film has been renamed simply The Watch, partly due to the recent Trayvon Martin case, and here in the UK the name has also been changed. The director, Akiva Schaffer, is the guy responsible for the hilarious Hot Rod, and the film has been written by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Jared Stern. It would appear that we are in good hands, and with Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill and the UK’s Richard Ayoade starring, this can only be good, can’t it?

The trailer is most impressive seeing the four guys banter, especially in the shop where they try and pick out who is an alien, but it is the concept of a possible alien invasion which makes me a little nervous. The talky bits are funny, but when the gang of ‘neighbourhood watch’ chaps start to discover an alien weapon, it becomes a little too slapstick. Hopefully this is just a minor glitch.

Synopsis:

Suburban dads who form a neighborhood watch group as a way to get out of their day-to-day family routines find themselves defending the Earth from an alien invasion.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
