Abbie Cornish in talks to join ‘Robocop’ remake, her character offers a new twist on the story

Abbie Cornish’s last big screen appearance was in the Madonna directed W.E, but before that she was seen in Zack Snyder’s brilliant Sucker Punch, so she is certainly a face fans will recognise. She is about to get into an even bigger movie as she is now in talks to join Jose Padilha’s Robocop remake, but there is a twist on the original story.

I guess, like me, you were expecting Cornish to be cast in the role of Anne Lewis, Murphy’s partner in Paul Verhoeven’s original, but you’d be wrong. In an interesting take on the new version, Cornish will be playing Murphy’s wife, and if you remember in the original film she only appeared briefly in flashback. Now, considering Cornish is a much bigger star, she would not be expected to turn up for a few seconds, and it is sounding like her character will have a much bigger part to play in the new film.

While we are still expecting another female to be cast to play Anne Lewis, the thought of Murphy’s wife playing a more prominent character hints at a much more dramatic approach to the story, with plenty of the emotional stuff as Murphy’s wife will clearly be distraught after her husbands death.

News on this film is really starting to flood in now, with Samuel L. Jackson recently being added to the list, with Gary Oldman and Joel Kinnaman already cast.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
