It is funny how things work out for the best isn’t it? Just earlier today I was complaining at the lack of all things Dredd while sharing two new images with you. As if someone somewhere was listening to my complaints, the first official poster appeared online a few hours ago.
The poster was sent to JoBlo.com, and now it is appearing everywhere, so here we are to get in on the action. It is a simple, quiet, and very effective poster featuring Dredd himself surrounded by very intense black. In fact, the whole poster is very intense, and very effective, and hopefully this is a sign of what is to come from the movie.
The film has been aiming for an R-rating in the US ever since it was announced, with plans for a more grittier Dredd after Sylvester Stallone’s awful version back in 1995. Also, unlike the Stallone version, here Karl Urban will not be removing his helmet!
Pete Travis directs from a script written by Carlos Ezquerra and Alex Garland. Karl Urban will be playing Dredd, and he will be supported by Olivia Thirlby, Lena Headey, Domhnall Gleeson, Santi Scinelli and Jason Cope.

Dredd is set in a violent future where laws have begun to crumble and it becomes the responsibility of the police to prevent and punish crime. The story follows one particular police officer, Judge Dredd, teams up with a young agent named Cassandra Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) to hunt down a dangerous, reality-bending drug called SLO-MO. Lena Headey stars as the villain, Madeline ‘Ma-Ma’ Madrigal.
