TV: Mads Mikkelsen signs with NBC to play their Hannibal Lecter in Bryan Fuller’s series

After taking the role of one of the villains in Thor 2, and also winning Best Actor at this years Cannes Festival for his role in The Hunt, Mads Mikkelsen (Valhalla Rising, Casino Royale) appears to be unstoppable. News has burst onto the web over the weekend that the Danish actor has just signed up for what could well be his biggest role yet!

Mikkelsen is set to step into the shoes of one of the greatest villains of all time, Hannibal Lecter. Previously played by both Anthony Hopkins and Brian Cox, Mikkelsen has some serious pressure on him to do the character justice, but you know what, I think he will pull it off, perfectly. Mikkelsen will play the role opposite the already cast Hugh Dancy, who will be playing Special Agent Will Graham.

“Hannibal,” which has received a 13-episode series order, features Lecter teaming to solve crimes with empathic FBI profiler Will Graham (Hugh Dancy). For the first time, viewers will spend quality time with Lecter while he’s at large and before the world knows his secrets, working side by side with a similarly brilliant man who is destined to catch him.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
