Confirmed! Johnny Depp to head to Wes Anderson’s ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’

Twitch reported last week that director Wes Anderson was eyeing up some serious acting talent for his new film, however at the time no names had been confirmed and the title of the film was yet to be revealed.

The impressive list of names included Bill Murray, Owen Wilson, Jude Law, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe, Edward Norton, Jeff Goldblum, Angela Lansbury and Johnny Depp. While it it pretty much guaranteed that Bill Murray and Owen Wilson will appear in the film, nothing had yet been confirmed.

Today Deadline has confirmed two things, firstly the name of the film, which will be The Grand Budapest Hotel, and secondly one of the stars. Johnny Depp is the name confirmed to be starring in The Grand Budapest Hotel, and while it is not just when Anderson intends to begin shooting, it should prove very interesting seeing these two team up.

Anderson is currently enjoying the success of Moonrise Kingdom, which has become the biggest arthouse film of the year after taking $44 million worldwide. Depp is currently filming The Lone Ranger, and has plans to adapt a new version of The Thin Man, so it may be some time before Anderson’s new films begins producution, but it is certainly one to look forward to!

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
