Dr Who’s Karen Gillan joins cast of Mike Flanagan’s creepy new horror ‘Oculus’

The sexy Karen Gillan has been the star of Dr Who, and also played a small role in the rather excellent 2010 horror, Outcast. She is now set to return to the horror genre thanks to landing herself a lead role in Mike Flanagan’s supernatural horror, Oculus.

Mike Flanagan is the man responsible for the recent, and quite brilliant horror Absentia (review) and his new film Oculus has an intriguing synopsis:

Oculus centers on a murder that left two children orphans with authorities charging the brother while his sister believed that the true culprit was a haunted antique mirror. Now completely rehabilitated and in his twenties, the brother is ready to move on but his sister is determined to prove that the haunted mirror was responsible for destroying their family.

I believe Gillan will be playing the role of the sister. Flanagan directs from a script he co-wrote with Jeff Howard. Production begins this Autumn, with Intrepid’s Trevor Macy and Marc D. Evans producing and financing the film.

More on this as it develops.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
