Saw writers brought in to re-write ‘God of War’ adaptation

The movie adaptation of the game God of War has been on the cards since 2008. Brett Ratner was originally set to direct, however he has since left the project. Universal are behind the adaptation of the game which was first released in 2005, and was created by David Jaffe and Shannon Studstill.

Universal have announced that the film has now got a new set of writers who intend to re-write the script, and judging by their previous work, will add some extra violence and gore to the proceedings. Co-producer David Self wrote the initial draft.

Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan are the two names now attached to re-write the script, and with their previous efforts including four of the Saw films, Feast, Piranha 3DD and most recently they re-wrote Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim. With these sorts of films in their back catalogues, they make the perfect choice to write a script for a film about a Spartan warrior searching for Pandora’s Box and battling with giant Cyclops, Medusa and the Hydra before taking on the God of War himself, Ares.

Expect much more on this as it develops.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
