SYNOPSES

THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE (FIRST SEQUENCE)

When their car breaks down in rural Germany on a road trip across Europe, two young American girls go in search of help. Finding an isolated house, the owner Dr. Heiter, a retired surgeon, offers to call them a taxi.

With the promise of a drink and dry place to wait, the girls soon discover that there is something not quite right about the formidable Dr. Heiter. Plunged into the middle of a surgical nightmare that make the experiments of Dr. Moreau seem humane, they soon realize they are to become a lot closer to each other than they ever wanted to be, thus bringing to life the Doctor’s sick lifetime fantasy, “The Human Centipede”.

Inspired by a conversation over what punishment would be appropriate for convicted paedophiles, Tom Six’s bizarre biological horror film has the distinction of being 100% medically accurate.

THE HUMAN CENTIPEDE 2 (FULL SEQUENCE)

This follow-up to Tom Six’s cult horror smash hit of 2010 ups the ante with a brute force unparalleled in film today. The iconic Dr. Heiter has inspired a real-life protégé, the sickly, mentally disturbed car park attendant — Martin — who takes his gory inspiration from the original film to horrific new extremes!

A loner, Martin lives with his nagging mother on a bleak London council estate, where loud neighbours and squalid living conditions threaten to plunge this victim of sexual and psychological abuse over the edge. Working the night shift as an attendant at an underground car park, he indulges his obsession with The Human Centipede, and decides to emulate his hero, by creating his own 12-person human centipede.

What follows is one of the most harrowing and terrifying films ever conceived, featuring a central character that makes Dr. Heiter seem tame in comparison. The Human Centipede 2 (Full Sequence) is a triumph in biological horror by one of the new masters of the horror film.

GUILTY OF ROMANCE

Guilty of Romance is the recent crime noir from the award-winning director Sion Sono (Love Exposure, Cold Fish). It tells the tale of three women entangled in a mystery… a mystery that is the gate to a hell-bound love like no other… seen through the looking glass of sex, words, madness, death, and family.

Set just before the turn of the 21st century, a grisly murder occurs in Maruyama-cho, Shibuya, a love hotel district. While the police investigate, the story interweaves with that of Izumi, the wife of a famous romantic novelist whose life seems just a daily repetition without romance. One day she decides to follow her desires and accepts a job as a naked model.

Bombarding the audience with graphic images and assaulting the emotions with classical music, Sion Sono has produced a movie that provokes all your senses, blending genres of film noir with drama and mystery, and showcasing the directors trademark style and use of vivid colour to portray emotion and mood, Guilty of Romance is the final and most exhilarating part of Sono’s “hate” trilogy.

THE YELLOW SEA

Award winning director of The Chaser, NA HONG-JIN, now brings us the enthralling action packed thriller THE YELLOW SEA.

Gu-nam is a desperate gambler and debt-ridden taxi driver in Yanji City in a region that has adjoining borders to North Korea, China and Russia. His wife fled to South Korea six months earlier and he hasn’t heard from her since. In order to repay his debts and find his wife this mild unassuming man accepts a contract killing from hit man Myun-ga.

Crossing the dangerous Yellow Sea to Seoul he seeks out both his target and wife, but soon finds himself in the middle of a dangerous conspiracy of lies and betrayal. Before he can fulfill the contract, he witnesses others murder his target. Fleeing the scene, he is not only being pursued by the police, but those responsible.

The Yellow Sea is the first Korean film to ever receive investment from a major Hollywood studio (Fox International Productions).
