‘Kick-Ass 2’ casting update: Jim Carrey is wanted, and Lindy Booth is having talks

Some more casting news has arrived this week as director Jeff Wadlow prepares to start production on the highly anticipated Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall. There have been rumours that Jim Carrey is top of the list to appear in the film as Colonel Stars, a superhero who helps form the Justice Forever team, however it is now looking less and less likely that the star will join the cast.

However, there is more casting news, and a lot better looking than Jim Carrey! Lindy Booth, who has appeared in films like Dawn of the Dead, Cry Wolf and Wrong Turn, is now in talks to join the cast as Night Bitch, a member of the Justice Forever team. Inspired by Kick-Ass, Night Bitch joins the Justice Forever in the hope of avenging her sisters death. With the talk that Colonel Stars is also to appear in the film (Carrey playing him or not), it would appear that Justice Forever will be playing a major part in the sequel.

Chloe Grace Moretz is returning as Hit-Girl, Aaron Johnson is back as Kick-Ass and Christopher Mintz-Plasse returns as Red Mist. New cast members include: John Leguizamo as one of Red Mists body guards, and Donald Faison as Doctor Gravity. It is also rumoured that Nic Cage might play a small cameo, in flashback form of course!

Matthew Vaughn is not directing this one, but he will produce. Jeff Wadlow (Never Back Down, Cry Wolf) will both write and direct and the sequel has a title of Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall. It is also been said that the makers are indeed aiming for an R rating for the film, which could mean either an 18 or 15 cert here in the UK.

Production is expected to begin next month in Toronto and London, and at this moment in time plot details are being kept under wraps. However, there have been rumours that a new villain might turn up in this sequel, Mother Russia. In the comics she is a towering, ex-KGB officer who serves as Red Mist’s bodyguard.

More on this as it develops.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
