‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ casts its Brutus as Bruno Gunn joins the team

Even more casting news has arrived today for director Francis Lawrence’s sequel, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. Bruno Gunn, who’s most recent films include Bad Teacher and Battlefield America and has also appeared in TV’s The Son’s of Anarchy, has just been cast as Brutus. The details that follow about his character contain spoilers:

Like his fellow career tribute Enobaria, Brutus signs up for the 75th Annual Hunger Games, AKA Quarer Quell, which pits former winners against each other including Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson). And like his fallen District 2 brother Cato from The Hunger Games, Brutus becomes one of the arenas most lethal competitors.

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE will be directed by Francis Lawrence, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the second in a trilogy that has sold more than 50 million books in print and digital in the U.S. alone.

Lionsgate will release THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE on November 22, 2013.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
