Two freaky clips arrive for spooky horror ‘The Possession’

The Possession is due to arrive in UK cinemas this Friday, and the big question after a long hot (yeah right) summer of non horror flicks is this, will fans get their horror fix, and will it be scary? Well, on the evidence of these two clips, we just might be in for a treat.

While no film about a possessed individual will EVER grace the heights of The Exorcist, many have come and had a jolly good go at it. Director Ole Bornedal appears no different, and while every possessed girl cliche appears to be used here, the sudden jolts of horror work very well indeed. Check out the clips at the bottom of this post.

The Possession is directed by Ole Bornedal, and has been written by Kevin Mannis, Stephen Susco, Juliet Snowden and Stiles White. Sam Raimi is one of the films producers. The film stars Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kyra Sedgwick, Grant Show, Madison Davenport and Natasha Calis.

The Possession is due for release on 31 August in UK cinemas.

Synopsis:

Based on true events, ‘The Possession’ is the terrifying story of how one family must unite in order to survive the wrath of an unspeakable evil. Clyde (Morgan) and Stephanie Brenek (Sedgwick) see little cause for alarm when their youngest daughter Em becomes oddly obsessed with an antique wooden box she purchased at a yard sale. But as Em’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic, the couple fears the presence of a malevolent force in their midst, only to discover that the box was built to contain a dibbuk, a dislocated spirit that inhabits and ultimately devours its human host.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
