Oh how we English love our violence, our football, our gangsters and our drug deals. It all comes together in the latest gangster come football violence thriller, St Georges Day.
Frank Harper, star of genre classics This Is England Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and The Football Factory not only stars here, but also has his first go at directing, and from the trailer it is clear he has learnt a lot from his time on screen, and brings those skills to this gritty and thuggish thriller.
Harper also wrote the film with Urs Buehler, and the cast includes a whole collection of the usual faces including: Charles Dance, Craig Fairbrass, Neil Maskell, Vincent Regan, Luke Treadaway, Dexter Fletcher, Sean Pertwee, Nick Moran, Ashley Waters, Jamie Foreman, Mark-John Ford and page 3 girl Keeley Hazel.
St Georges Day arrives in UK cinemas 7th September.
Infamous London gangster cousins, Micky Mannock and Ray Collishaw, are at the top of the food chain, when their world is turned upside down as they lose a shipment of the Russian Mafia’s cocaine in rough seas. Set in London, Amsterdam and Berlin, the story races across Europe at breakneck speed as Micky and Ray attempt to stay one step ahead of the Police. Can they pull off a daring diamond heist in time to put things right and retire to a “legitimate” way of life.
