Daniel Radcliffe is horny in first image from Alexandre Aja’s new horror ‘Horns’

Daniel Radcliffe continues to venture further away from the Harry Potter franchise, and deeper in darker, more the terrifying territory of horror. After his superb performance in James Watkins’ The Woman in Black, Radcliffe is back in yet another, altogether different horror. Coming from director Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Switchblade Romance, Piranha 3D), expect Horns to be a rather nasty experience, and expect Radcliffe to give yet another spellbinding (sorry!) experience.

The first official image has landed courtesy of Entertainment Weekly, and you can see it at the bottom of this post. The film is based on a book called Horns written by Joe Hill, and believe it or not, features Radcliffe growing devil like horns out of his head. However, with the accusation of raping and killing his girlfriend, don’t go expecting this film to be at all on the comical side.

Radcliffe says the role is  “deeply emotional and also incredibly outrageous in some ways.” He continued “To play somebody who, in the midst of a time in his life of great turmoil anyway, undergoes this horrific transformation into a devil character — it was very, very exciting.” Radcliffe does indeed appear to have embraced the horror genre!

Daniel Radcliffe will star in the film as Ignatius “Ig” Perrish, a 26 year old man who wakes up one day to find his girlfriend raped and murdered, and to top it all off, he has horns growing out of his head. The horns  ”make people confess their sins and give in to their most unspeakable impulses.” Also appearing in the film will be Juno Temple ( Jack and Diane, The Dark Knight Rises, Killer Joe, Kaboom!) along with Joe Anderson (The Grey, Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn part 2, The Crazies, TV’s The River) and Kelli Garner (Dreamland, The Aviator, Red Velvet).

Joe Hill, son of a certain Stephen King, wrote the creepy novel The Horns, and had it published in February 2010. Mandalay Pictures are financing the film, with Alexandre Aja directing.

Hill will executive produce, with Mandalay Pictures Cathy Schulman and Peter Gruber producing. The novel has been adapted into a script by Scott Bunin. Hill was also responsible for writing horror comic book series ‘Locke and Key’.

Synopsis:

“Horns,” a supernatural thriller driven by fantasy, mystery and romance, follows Ig Perrish (Radcliffe), the number one suspect for the violent rape and murder of his girlfriend. Hungover from a night of hard drinking, Ig awakens one morning to find horns starting to grow from his own head and soon realizes their power drives people to confess their sins and give in to their most selfish and unspeakable impulses – an effective tool in his quest to discover the true circumstances of his late girlfriend’s tragedy and for exacting revenge on her killer.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
