Famke Janssen to appear in ‘The Wolverine’ in a cameo role as Jean Grey?

Add the lovely Famke Janssen to a film and I’ll more than likely watch it, and a rumour today has surfaced that the gorgeous actress might well be reprising her role as Jean Grey in James Mangold’s The Wolverine.

The rumour comes from  We Got This Covered who claim that Janssen flew out to Sydney, Australia last week to film a small role for a film, and the film being shot there right now is The Wolverine. It is thought that Janssen will be filming a small cameo role as The Wolverine’s love interest Jean Grey.

With Grey meeting her demise in Wolverine’s arms at the end of X-Men: The Last Stand, it is nice to see her character return. In case you weren’t aware, The Wolverine takes place before the X-Men trilogy, and is thought to somehow link with Matthew Vaughn’s sequel, X-Men: Days of Future Past. Producer Bryan Singer has already said of a possible “connection” between the trilogy and the new X-Men films, and with Days of Future Past’s time-jumping design, we just might be seeing more of Jean Grey.

The Wolverine takes place just after the character has had his indestructible skeleton made, and with an issue with memory loss after being shot in the brain, The Wolverine is heading to Japan to find out his true identity. It has also been suggested that Jean Grey might be one of Wolverine’s forgotten memories, and that the pair met before they attended Xavier’s School For Gifted Youngsters (as shown in Bryan Singer’s X-Men).

Details are pretty non-existent as to how Jean Grey will fit into The Wolverine, and it might end up as something we will never know until the film comes out. If you remember, Hugh Jackman’s cameo in X-Men: First Class was kept secret until the film was released, with a rumour before hand stating he had flown to the set to film a scene which no one knew anything about.  Personally, I can’t wait to see Jean Grey back, even if it is for a brief moment.

Directed by James Mangold, The Wolverine stars Hugh Jackman as the metal clawed hero, and joining him will be Will Yun Lee, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, and Rila Fukushima.

The Wolverine arrives in UK cinemas 25th July 2013.

Synopsis:

Based on the celebrated comic book arc, THE WOLVERINE finds Logan, the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
