The first sales trailer for (Rec) 4: Apocalypse has go on-line, and while there is no actual footage from the film, it does offer some clues to the new film. The trailer arrives just in time for the Sitges festival, with Filmax International hoping to drum up interest there. While not actually behind cameras yet, the fourth film is expected to begin shooting early next year, and will serve as a prequel. Jaume Balaguero, writer and director of (Rec) 1 and 2, is on directing duties on the fourth film after he and directing partner Paco Plaza chose to direct the 3rd and 4th films separately.
The synopsis for the fourth film follows, with the sales trailer and poster included. It has been said that the fourth film will not be found footage, and will use the more traditional approach to filming.
Synopsis:
Angela Vidal, the young television reporter who entered the building with the fireman, manages to make it out alive. But what the soldiers don’t know is that she carries the seed of the strange infection.
She is to be taken to a provisional quarantine facility, a high-security installation where she will have to stay in isolation for several days. An old oil tanker, miles off shore and surrounded by water on all sides, has been especially equipped for the quarantine.
