Gareth Edwards’ ‘Godzilla’ gets a quick re-write by Iron Man 3 writer Drew Pearce, casting begins soon!

The last bit of news we had on Gareth Edwards’ highly anticipated Godzilla movie, was that the film would be released by Legendary Pictures on May 16th 2014. Casting is about to get underway for the film, however a quick rewrite of the script is now happening.

Drew Pearce, writer of Iron Man 3 and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, has been drafted in to slightly adjust the draft originally written by David Callahan, and then also written by David S. Goyer and Max Borenstein. However, there is no need to panic, Legendary Pictures are more than happy with what has already been written and have simply called in Pearce to age up the characters so that they fit the prototype of the actors they would like to target.

The film is directed by Gareth Edwards, who earned worldwide acclaim for his feature directorial debut, “Monsters.”  Edwards directs from a screenplay by David Callaham (“The Expendables” films), David S. Goyer (the “Dark Knight” trilogy) and Max Borenstein (upcoming “The Seventh Son”).  Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni will produce, along with Roy Lee, Dan Lin and Brian Rogers.  Alex Garcia and Patricia Whitcher will serve as executive producers alongside Doug Davison, Yoshimitsu Banno and Kenji Okuhira.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
