JJ Abrams revealed the very first clip from his new film, Star Trek Into Darkness while being interviewed by Conan O’Brien. Don’t get too excited because the clip is merely three frames long, but in all fairness the build up in the following video makes it actually quite funny. Abrams explains how Paramount asked him not to show anything, and eventually agreed on what we get to see below. Three frames basically means if you blink, you’ll miss it!
However, the clip has been freeze framed, and the image above is what the clip is, nothing more. It features Spock, played by Zachary Quinto, in a protective suit in the heart of a volcano. As O’Brien says in the video, us “nerds” will be dissecting the image to figure out what it means. Personally I have no idea, but it looks cool with all them big orange flames and Spock as a silhouette. Oooh, the excitement!
While no official synopsis has yet to be revealed, what we do know is who will be appearing in the film: Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, Benedict Cumberbatch, Zoe Saldana, Alice Eve, Anon Yelchin, Simon Pegg, John Cho and Peter Weller. Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof are on writing duties.
Star Trek 2 will arrive in UK cinemas 17th May 2013.
