The always brilliant Ron Perlman joins Daniel Stamm’s remake ‘Angry Little God’, celebrations all round!

The Last Exorcism director Daniel Stamm is directing an English language remake of the superb Thai thriller, 13: Game of Death. The original film featured a violent game how where contestants receive a phone call asking them to complete 13 tasks, each one more violent than the next.

Already cast in the film are Mark Webber and Rutina Wesley, however today a few more names have been attached. Most notably is the inclusion of the great Ron Perlman, and while the man needs no introduction, sadly we have no idea who he will be playing in the film. However, add his name to pretty much anything and it has me sold! Pruitt Taylor Vince (Drive Angry, Constantine), Tom Bower (I Melt With You, The Killer Inside Me) and Devon Graye (American Horror Story, Dexter) have also just joined the cast too!

Here is the official press release for the film, released in August:

Dimension Films has announced its acquisition of U.S. distribution rights to the psychological thriller ANGRY LITTLE GOD from director Daniel Stamm (The Last Exorcism). IM Global will finance and produce the film, an English-language remake of the Thai thriller 13: GAME OF DEATH, alongside Brian Kavanaugh-Jones of Automatik and Kiki Miyake. Jason Blum of Blumhouse (SINISTER, INSIDIOUS, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY) will executive produce with Somsak Techaratanaprasert.

Stamm and his writing partner, David Birke, adapted the script from the original film, which follows a bright but meek social services coordinator who’s drowning in debt and desperate as he’s about to marry the love of his life. He receives a mysterious phone call informing him that he’s on a hidden camera game show where he must execute 13 tasks to receive a cash prize of over $6,000,000. He accepts the challenge, but even with thousands of dollars suddenly appearing in his bank account, he realizes he’s in over his head. Trapped into the horrors manipulated by unseen spectators, his need to complete the game escalates as the tasks grow more extreme to a devastating point of no return.

“I was blown away by Daniel Stamm’s direction in THE LAST EXORCISM and have wanted to work with him ever since,” said Bob Weinstein, co-chairman of The Weinstein Company. “We look forward to bringing his suspenseful ANGRY LITTLE GOD to American audiences.”

“Dimension is the perfect distributor for this kind of edgy genre material in the hands of a proven talent like Daniel. We’re looking forward to the ride,” said IM Global CEO Stuart Ford.

The deal was negotiated for Dimension Films by David Glasser, COO, The Weinstein Company, and on behalf of the film by IM Global’s Ford and President of Sales Jonathan Deckter.

A keen enthusiast and collector of all horror and extreme films. I can be picky as i like quality in my horror. This doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a classic, but as long as it has something to impress me then i'm a fan. I watch films by the rule that if it doesn't bring out some kind of emotive response then it aint worth watching.
