With Twilight coming to an end tomorrow, the hunt is on for the next big franchise and The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is looking like a good contender. The very first image was revealed this week by Entertainment Weekly, and you can check it out above and below.
More exciting though is the release of the first trailer for the fantasy adventure, and you can also view that below. The film is based on one of a series of six books written by Cassandra Clare, and focuses on a group of Demon Hunters intent of saving the world from evil. I must say the new trailer is big, epic and looks gorgeous and thankfully does not hold back on the violence either. This just might be the next franchise to rival The Hunger Games? It looks impressive, check out the trailer below.
The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones arrives in UK cinemas 23rd August 2013. Based on the novel’s written by Cassandra Clare, the first film is directed by Harald Zwart (The Karate Kid) and the cast includes Lily Collins, Lena Headey, Jonathan Rhys Myers, Robert Sheehan, Jared Harris, Jamie Campbell Bower, Kevin Zegers and Aidan Turner.
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder—much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It’s hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing—not even a smear of blood—to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?
This is Clary’s first meeting with the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the earth of demons. It’s also her first encounter with Jace, a Shadowhunter who looks a little like an angel and acts a lot like a jerk. Within twenty-four hours Clary is pulled into Jace’s world with a vengeance, when her mother disappears and Clary herself is attacked by a demon. But why would demons be interested in ordinary mundanes like Clary and her mother? And how did Clary suddenly get the Sight? The Shadowhunters would like to know…
