As we all know, director John M. Chu’s awesome looking sequel, G.I Joe: Retaliation, was put back by almost a year. Originally scheduled for a summer release this year, the film no arrives next March after some post-converting to 3D.
Apparently the film also needed a few tweaks, and judging by this new trailer, all issues have been ironed out and the film is more than ready to go. The new trailer is awesome, and that massive explosion half way through is truly something to behold. After a easy to watch, but rather weak first film, here’s hoping G.I Joe: Retaliation delivers the goods.
The film stars D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Ray Park, Adrianne Palicki, Jonathan Pryce, RZA, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum with Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson. Directed by Jon M. Chu, and produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Brian Goldner, from a screenplay by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick based on Hasbro’s G.I. Joe(R) characters, the film is scheduled to be released on 29th March 2013.
In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence.
